In 1980, I started a company called Territorial Oak. For five years the company designed and produced a "turn of the century" line of oak furniture with a New Mexican territorial influence.

Over time, I came to recognize a local need for doors to accent the adobe architecture of the region. I took a 30-day sabbatical to photograph doors and gates throughout Santa Fe and the surrounding area. I then designed the first series of five interior doors to compliment the regional architecture. This became the humble beginning of Santa Fe Heritage Door Company. These five doors still comprise part of the company's product line.

My pleasure in building the company derives from my enjoyment of creating beautiful things, and wood is my preferred medium. Wood offers a blend of function and beauty, and regardless of one's years of experience in working wood, one never completely masters its response. This aspect of the medium is, to me, both exciting and frustrating.

I love the process of bringing something new into existence. I love the challenge of creating a design on paper and then building the first prototype. But ultimately the most satisfying aspect is seeing how people and the market respond to each new creation.

To date the market has responded very favorably to Santa Fe Heritage Door Company's product line. I am proud of the extensive range of products offered, and the exquisite architectural element they add to peoples' homes and to businesses. Be assured, the company will continue to introduce beautiful new door products to the marketplace on a regular basis

Santa Fe offers an ideal environment for creating unique and beautiful design elements. There is a diverse, talented artistic community in Santa Fe that provides a broad foundation for creating some of the finest products in the world. Santa Fe Heritage Door Company is proud of its tradition of drawing upon this talent in order to offer you some of Santa Fe's finest doors, ready to enhance your own unique building project.
